Behavior Coaching

Behavior coaching focuses on the patterns and habits shaping your dog’s choices, delivered virtually so you can practice hands‑on in your own space with guidance that makes the changes stick.

How It Works

Start where it makes sense for you.

Some people begin by exploring free resources, others with a consult call.

If we’re a good fit, the next step is an intake session, followed by coaching as needed.

Costs at a Glance

What to Expect with a Consult

  • Share your story: Tell me about your dog(s), your household, and some of what you’ve already tried.

  • Management: I’ll offer a few practical strategies you can use right away to take the edge off daily stress and/or decrease immediate safety concerns.

  • Resources for layered learning: When helpful, I’ll point you toward videos, readings, or other professionals so you can revisit concepts from different angles.

  • Human first, trainer second: I’ve worked with a wide mix of tools and methods over the years. There’s no judgment here—just a focus on what’s happening right now and what might help.

  • No magic wands: Behavior work is real work. There are no guarantees, but there are always next steps. I’ll help you get a clear picture of what’s going on and sketch what it could look like if we take the case further—without over‑promising quick fixes.

This first call isn’t about fixing everything in half an hour. It’s about dipping a toe in, swapping notes, and seeing if the way I work feels like a good fit for you and your dog.

The Intake

Fire Hose

The 90‑minute Intake is where we turn on the fire hose. This is the foundation session—the one where we dig into the details, build context, and set the stage for real change.

This 10‑minute video goes deeper into my intake process. Some details have shifted since recording, but the core approach remains the same. It’s still a solid overview of how I think about intake and worth watching if you’d like to see the framework flushed out.

Miro Snapshot

This is your anchor point—the map we build together so you can always trace back to the beginning.

Session Summary

A Zoom doc that grows with your case, tracks behaviors, distills what we discussed, and lays out your clear next step — all in one place you can return to anytime.

What You Get with the Intake

  • A deep dive session — 90 minutes to dig into your dog, your household, and your routines.

  • Clear pattern‑spotting — collaborative “aha” moments as we trace what’s really driving behavior.

  • Action you can use now — practical starting solutions woven into your daily life.

  • One next step — a clear plan offered in different “flavors” to match your capacity.

  • Take‑home tools: A recording, a clear summary and a stack of resources you can dip into whenever you want.

  • Built‑in follow‑up — a two‑week check‑in call to test traction and adjust next steps.

Built-In

Follow- Up

Two weeks later, we meet for a shorter “Theory to Application” call.

This is where we check: did the first ideas gain traction? What’s working, what’s not?

By then, most families know what kind of support feels most useful. We usually wait until after this call to decide on ongoing coaching, so next steps reflect both what we’ve seen and what fits your dog’s learning pace and your own bandwidth.

Most families work with me for about 2–3 months before they feel ready to continue on their own. Some return later for tune‑ups, and I’m always here if you need to resume.

My rule about support after the intake is simple: it’s only helpful if it’s actually helpful.

  • Damage Control → steady accountability and progress when you’re stretched thin. ($170)

  • Barney Style → active coaching, direct feedback, and a more hands‑on rhythm. ($500)

✺ The Real Barriers ✺

(and how we handle them)

    • Don’t worry—I don’t judge. I live with two tiny human tornadoes myself. Clutter isn’t the issue. But even something as subtle as an airflow vent paired with a deaf dog can set off "unpredictable" reactivity. Since I can’t scan your space in person, my job is to turn you into super‑sleuths in your own home. I’ll coach you on how to notice the little things I’d be spotting if I were standing there with you.

    • I can’t physically step in and show you the exact moment to click or treat. Instead, you practice, narrate, or record, and I highlight the key seconds afterward. This slows the loop a little, but it also means you get to own the timing instead of relying on me

    • I can’t step in with your dog, but that’s what makes the learning stick — you practice, I guide, and the skills become yours right away.

    • Narration works and videos are gold. It lets me spot details you might miss and give feedback that’s sharper than what we’d manage in person.

Your Next Step

Virtual consulting isn’t a second‑best option. It’s a flexible, collaborative way to build skills right where challenges happen — your everyday life. The process is shaped around you: your learning style, your pace, your capacity. Together, we build a plan that fits both your dog’s needs and your reality, so progress doesn’t just happen in a session — it holds up in daily life.
